On August 16, 2025, the Latin American Scholarship Foundation (LASF) proudly hosted its 7th Annual Scholarship Gala, reaffirming our mission to support Canadian youth of Hispanic heritage in their post-secondary education journey.
Event Highlights
The evening began with a warm welcome from President Patricia Maldonado, who reminded us of the importance of gratitude toward students, families, sponsors, and partners: “this is how we all grow together.”
Our hosts for the night were Silvia Méndez, a well-known broadcaster and entrepreneur, and Sebastián Salcedo, a former LASF scholar whose success story reflects the transformative power of education.
Before the scholarship presentations, Vice President Gina Díaz de Castro delivered an inspiring message to the students, highlighting the value of post-secondary education as a path to both personal and professional growth.
A highlight of the Gala was the recognition of our media partners, who have supported LASF faithfully for seven years. Azalea Bucheli, our Public Relations Officer, presented appreciation awards to media leaders from Ahora Canadá, Diario El Popular, KBuena Radio TV, Radio Ondas FM, CHHA 1610 AM Radio, Sheimy’s Promotions, and Latin Life Magazine.
2025 Scholarship Recipients
This year, seven scholarships were awarded to outstanding students who recently graduated high school and are beginning their post-secondary studies. Among them was the Community Scholarship Award, generously supported every year by the Club de Leones Cervantes, celebrating commitment to community service.

We were also inspired by Jesús Bustamante, a 2019 scholar, who shared his journey and encouraged the new generation to pursue their dreams.
The Gala closed with joy and celebration, with live music by Orquesta Fantasía, reminding us that education and community go hand in hand.
